Teardrop Soap

Chichi.ca project: Day 70

This month, the technique of Amy’s soap challenge is “Teardrop”.

I used the recipe recommended by Amy, which contains lard.

Apparently lard slows down the trace of soap batter so it’s useful when I want to make soap with complex designs.

I had never used lard before, and I didn’t have time to order lard online, so I bought this.

On the front of the package, it says “pure lard”, but the ingredients list says Lard, BHA, BHT and Citric Acid…..

I hope this will make safe soap!

The theme of the soap was going to be “matcha green tea latte”, but it turned out more like “Arabian nights”.

The colours I used are, hydrated green chrome oxide (the bright turquoise blue), matcha green tea powder (dark brown-green), chlorella powder (I don’t think you can see it in the picture, but it’s there), and gold mica (beige-cream colour).

It’s got some glycerin rivers because I used a 33% lye solution. But I think it went really well, considering this was my very first attempt at the Teardrop technique πŸ™‚
